Biography
Ray Charles Robinson, known as Ray Charles was born September 23, 1930 Albany, Georgia. he was a pioneer of the music industry back in the 1950's. before he went and topped the charts with many number 1's he had and early life, one of the most traumatic events was when he watched his little brother drown when he was only and child himself. soon after his brother passed away he began to loose his vision so by the age of 7 years old he was completely blind. his mother sent him to the Florida School for the Deaf and the Blind in St. Augustine, Florida - when he learned to read and write and arrange music in Braille. when ray turned 15 his mother died so for a year he toured the south where he picked up a a love for Heroine. in 1949 he released his first single followed by " Baby let me Hold Your Hand" by 1953 he had landed a deal with Atlantic Records and a year later he released his now a classic song " i got a woman " the he year 1960 brought Charles his first Grammy Award for "Georgia on My Mind," followed by another Grammy for the single "Hit the Road, Jack."he year 1960 brought Charles his first Grammy Award for "Georgia on My Mind," followed by another Grammy for the single "Hit the Road, Jack." By then Charles had earned his name " Father of Soul". When 2003 rolled around Charles had to undergo a hip replacement surgery which canceled his show for the first time in 53 years. the sugery went well but he soon learned that he was suffering from liver disease and died June 10, 2004
